Our Driveway Sealed!!! And Keith didn't do it!!!!

This is AFTER!!!!

I know this isn't exciting to some...BUT TO KEITH IT IS!!! For the first time EVER, Keith didn't have to do this messy, dirty job. Didn't have a back ache for days afterward either. When Keith did do this job it took him about a week..filling in the cracks and all. These 2 guys did it in 45 min.!!! And they guarantee their work for 3 years! We were so pleased with them that we asked for estimates for our kids driveways.. They both have anniversaries this month, so we told them this was the "TAR" Anniversary.. They are happy they don't have to do the messy, dirty job either!!

Working on more improvements!

The middle of May we decided to put indoor/outdoor carpet on the deck. John was not walking yet and we knew we couldn't let him crawl around the deck without it. We love the new area. It's like having another room. We LIVE outside on the deck; have breakfast, lunch and dinner whenever we can. Right now Keith is shopping for a new grill! Mitch, you can be sure I'll send photos of the new GRILL when he gets it!!!

We've sorta done this project backwards. The roof should have been put on first, but, that wasn't meant to be this year....at least so far.

Memorial Day

Uncle BRAD!!! Brad rode his bike the 3 blocks to be with us at Steve's house. We all took turns holding John til the parade started!

Keith was surprised at the annual parade that comes right in front of Steve and Di's house. The baseball team was marching in the parade. They stopped in front of Keith, who was wearing his Navy Veterans hat, handed him a ball signed by all of them. Each of them shook his hand and thanked him for his service. It was awesome. What a surprise. Very touching too.

This is one of Steve's friends from high school who just happened to be in a parade car parked in front of the house. A nice reunion.

We all wore our Red, White and Blue! John was so good thru the one hour parade, waving to all the units as they went by. Of course since he was so darn cute, EVERYONE was throwing candy at him. Doesn't he look older than 11 months old here?

We picked up Great Grammie at 8 a.m. so we could visit before the parade started at 9. Since Keith lived in Reiffton all his life and now Steve is living in the Richards' house, every unit stopped to say hi. It was like a home coming. Steve puts out the picnic benches for anyone to sit on...a tradition that Pop Pop Richards started many years ago. The weather was perfect! What more could we ask for?

My 1st Mother's Day Breakfast with John

Steve and John took me to breakfast early Sat. morning so we could celebrate Mother's Day. The menu was as big as John is; and he was having trouble deciding what he was going to order...hehe

An Early Mother's Day "LUPPER"

Here we are AGAIN....eating!!! Mom and Dad like to go to eat at the restaurant mid afternoon and we fondly call that meal....LUPPER. It was a beautiful sunny day and I know they enjoyed the sites as we drove across town. I even drove the "back" way home and stopped at one of their friends farm so they could say hi. That especially pleased Dad since he's not driving that far anymore. And he admitted he misses going to visit.

My Plants Come Home for the Summer

It's only a few miles from the school to Glick's and of course we couldn't resist going back AGAIN! Picked up Mother's Day flowers and just walked around the rows and rows of gorgeous flower domes. It's just good for the soul...the smell and warmth..ahhhhh

Each year in September, Keith and I load up the van with all our plants from the deck/outside and take them to their winter home at the Career and Tech. School where Keith taught Culinary Arts til he retired. The horticulture class take good care of all our plants and propogate many new plants from them. In the top photo you can see ALL the baby spider plants I started last year (maybe 100 or more) and now the class will sell them at the annual flower sale this coming week. The bottom photo has all my yuka plants etc. All in all I think we took home about 30 plants or more. I am so grateful to be able to keep the plants in the green houses at the school. It sure makes our deck and gardens look great by Mother's Day each year.:)

Cancer Walk for Life

Friday May 1st and Sat. May 2nd was the Cancer Walk for Life at the Reading Stadium. Di is captain for her company...and we've been walking for about 4 or 5 years. This year was John's first time and he did so very well for such a little guy. Di made his shirt by taking a large shirt, cutting out pieces and ironing them on John's shirt. Got pretty neat! Hope you can see all the work that Di put into this banner... She's quite the sports fan.

The first lap was to start at 10 a.m. and the last lap is 10 a.m the next morning...No we didn't walk the 24 hours..Ha. There are many that do... As a family, we are so very grateful to be able to participate as Survivors.
