Jan. 7th - Lee and Judy

Lee and Judy also live in Pa....but we see them more in Florida than in Pa. Drove by their site at 4:30 to see ALL the remodeling they were doing...A new fauset in the kitchen, bathroom and shower. He replaced the day/night shades with fabric shades that look fabulous, a perfect match color wise. They then came over to our RV to check out the carpet. Since they were headed to Peace River today, we decided to get tog. at 6:30 to play Mexican Train and drink some kaluha and creme. What a fun night, but sad knowing we won't see them til summer in Pa.

Jan.7th - Yalaha Bakery & Deli

Got a call from Bernie and Paul, our friends who live in the Villages in Florida, asking if we'd like to meet them for lunch in Yalaha, Florida. It was a half way point for both of us. Now listen up!!!! This is a REAL FIND...so the address is 8210 County Road 48, Yalaha, Fl. If you're in the area of Orlando/Clermont....and you want a really great lunch at a deli with a dynamite bakery, this is the place.
It was a sunny day, warm, about 60's - A real break from the cold nights and only 50's days. We drove north and in about 30 min. or so we were way out in the country. All of a sudden ....this is what we saw. It felt like we were in Germany. Just breathtaking!

Got out of the car and walked in thru these doors.

Bernie and Paul were waiting at a little corner table. It was so good to see them again. Oh, and this is the menu above. Plus, there is a soup of the day which of course Keith and I shared. Leek and Potato Soup..mmmmmm

I guess we arrived at 12:30 and closed the place at 3. I don't think the 4 of us would ever run out of things to talk about. Paul and Bernie will be stopping by to visit with us in Pa. on their way to New England in Sept. It's so NICE to have another CHEF in the house!

By 3 when I took this shot, the bakery was emptying out. I think there's enough mouth watering desserts for you to see.

Keith did the purchasing of the bread. We both enjoy all kinds of breads so this was like a candy store for us.

While Keith was busy in the bakery area...I ordered our food. I know one thing....we WILL come here again...and I hope if anyone does go to Yalaha Bakery you'll let us know how you liked it.

Jan. 6th - New Carpet for the RV

The weather in Florida has been the coldest we've ever experienced... Low's have been in the 20's with real feel temps. in the teens. We were shopping at Lowe's and found this carpet and decided it would not only make the RV look more homey, but keep our place warmer. We just can't believe the difference it's made. The larger carpet is 5X8 and the runner is 30"X8'.. We only wanted 5X7 and a 6ft. runner, but hey, you take what they have!
I know you all can't see the blinds in this photo...but one of our "day/night" shades was not straight...was very hard to move. We invited our good friend Carlton over to take a look at it as we had heard him talk about how they can be fixed. Sure enough, in just a few turns of the screw driver and then the drill....it was good as new.
Once again, ...so good to have friends to help out.

Jan. 5th - Running into Friends

We met Daryl and Libby a few years ago while at a Rally at LazyDays. We've stayed in touch by email. The day after we got here we were riding our bikes thru the park and Keith recognized their RV. We stopped and knocked on the door and sure enough,...it was their RV. Of course we had to go to Oakwood Steakhouse for RIBS... WHAT FUN!!! We'll be playing games with them at the Lodge tonight.
