Wed 2/17/2010 - Seven Sacred Ponds

You have to know a "local" to be able to hike to the Seven Sacred Ponds. If you take one of the Jeep tours they will take you there. We had BARB!!!! She even shared one of her walking sticks with me...as we went up and over and around and thru...Ha.Ha...Well, it took about 30 min. to hike back to the ponds.
We came upon this sink hole along the way...

Keith was just fascinated with this sink hole... It was huge.!!

The layers of rock were so colorful.

And this is what is right on top of the sink hole...wonder when this is going to fall?

And Barb just kept going!...So we followed.

And finally - the Seven Sacred Ponds..

These ponds always have water in them.. The Indians named these ponds...and considered them sacred because they always had water....

The beautiful paths that lead us back out to where Bob was waiting for us.

The Seven Sacred Ponds at another view.

My last photo leaving this area.... The sun was slowly going down and it was starting to get cooler.
Remember I said we left Tempe at 8:45 a.m... Well, at 8:45 p.m. we arrived back in Tempe... What a great experience thanks to Barb and Bob. We will never forget this time tog. :)

Wed 2/17/2010 - TLAQUEPAQUE

A Sedona landmark since the 1970's, Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village contains over 40 unique shops and galleries, with four award winning restaurants. It has stunning landscaping and Old-World Mexican style architecture. Weddings, Receptions and Special Events are held in this beautiful setting.
Keith was just trying to make a deal with this elk.

Barb just laughing at Bob making a funny by holding in his tummy... Cute!!!

Bob is about 6 ft. - just take a look at these carved doors! Very impressive.

I took this photo thru a glass door as it happened to be closed....but isn't it beautiful?

The beauty of these shells is indescribable.
Looking at the cars in the parking lot, we were told that about a month ago they were floating because of the flooding caused by all the snow and rain.
Check out the tree - allowed to remain undistrubed growing inside the building.

Very unique way to display garments for sale.

All trees are left wherever they grow...the buildings are built around them...so, it's not unusual to see trees in the middle of any room.

Oh, John, Look at Papa ....hugging this BIG TEDDY BEAR...

Wed 2/17/2010 Cathedral Rocks, Sedona

We parked the car and started the walk back to Catheral Rocks. The long walk took us along this swiftly moving water. Barb and Bob told us that they haven't seen this much water for a very long time..It's because of all the snow and rain they've had in the mountains.

This is the pathway back to Cathedral Rocks. Bob and Keith were having a really good time tog.

Barb taking photos of Cathedral Rocks. The most photographed structure in Sedona.

Barb is kneeling by one of the many little piles of rocks...reminded Keith and me of snowmen. Really cute.

Again, Barb loving the trees... I had a great time photographing her all day.

This was a working mill many many years ago... Just a great photo opp.

This is where we parked the car....Oh, and you can use your senior pass for admission to the park.

I know this looks like Cathedral Rocks are close, but it's at least 1/2 mile walk til you are at the base.

One of the old charming buildings along the walk back to the rocks.

Wed.Feb.17,2010- Beautiful Red Rock SEDONA

We are now in Sedona...behind us is the rock formation of Capitol Butte and on the right Coffeepot Rock (think of the tall coffee pots that they used to have on the wagon trains).
Here's a better view of Coffeepot Rock...Right in the center with the spout facing left. Can you see it?

This is Ship Rock...
